World of Warcraft Hints at New Dracthyr Warrior Class in Latest WoWCast Episode
World of Warcraft recently teased the addition of a Dracthyr Warrior in its latest WoWCast episode focused on "The War Within." While Blizzard has already confirmed that Dracthyr will eventually gain access to other classes after the release of "The War Within," this new teaser suggests that these options might be closer to release than anticipated.
The Dracthyr race was introduced in the Dragonflight expansion as draconic combatants restricted to the Evoker class, which revolves around channeling the powers of the five dragonflights. After nearly two years of speculation, World of Warcraft recently confirmed that more classes would become available to Dracthyr following the release of "The War Within."
In the latest WoWCast episode, which primarily discussed dungeons, PvP, and raids in "The War Within," sharp-eyed players noticed an exciting detail. During a Warbands character selection screen, a Dracthyr was seen dual-wielding two-handed axes—something only possible for Fury Warriors. This marks the first official appearance of a non-Evoker Dracthyr, and fans can catch a glimpse of this character around the campfire at the 1:38 mark of the episode.
Dracthyr Warrior Spotted in WoWCast Teaser
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a Dracthyr has been spotted with gear they typically can’t equip. During the introduction of the Warbands feature at BlizzCon 2023, one of the Dracthyr characters was shown wearing leather armor, despite Evokers being a mail class. Although this was initially chalked up to an oversight, Blizzard later confirmed that new classes would be opened up for Dracthyr, suggesting that the recent teaser might be an intentional nod to this earlier incident.
Currently, players don’t know exactly when the Dracthyr class expansion will be released. However, the appearance of the Dracthyr Warrior in this video implies that development might be further along than previously thought. There’s speculation that these new class options could be included in Patch 11.0.5, expected in October or November, though it’s also possible they could arrive later in Patch 11.1 or beyond.
Regardless of the timeline, fans can look forward to Dracthyr soon being able to play almost any class in the game. While Death Knight, Druid, Paladin, and Shaman classes are still uncertain, and Demon Hunter is confirmed to be off the table, Dragonflight already made most World of Warcraft classes universally available, so it’s likely Dracthyr will be able to choose from a wide variety. Hopefully, an official announcement will clarify which classes Dracthyr can pick soon.
