Epic Showdown Unveiled: The Hunt for the Elder Brain in Baldur's Gate 3 - Navigating the Intricate Quests and Confrontations in the Realm of Absolute Power!
The central element driving the protagonists' journey in Baldur's Gate 3 is the Elder Brain. The entire plot revolves around this powerful entity, and players first encounter it in Act 2. During this phase, they discover that the Illithid tadpole plague is orchestrated by the Elder Brain. However, the game does not present an opportunity to confront it unless Gail detonates his orb – an option that is far from ideal. The primary encounter with the Elder Brain is set to occur in Act 3, and finding and confronting it in Baldur’s Gate 3 may require some guidance.
BG3: Unraveling the Elder Brain Mystery
The quest to confront the Elder Brain initiates towards the end of Act 2 when players learn that the Chosen Three are controlling it. Upon defeating Ketherick Torm, players acquire the first Netherstone, with the objective of obtaining the remaining two held by Gortash and Orin. As players leave Moonrise Towers, the Dream Visitor recommends securing more allies before the impending main battle, marking it as the secondary task for Act 3.
Players have varied choices regarding Gortash – they can engage in a challenging fight upon their first encounter, form an alliance and later betray him for a more favorable battle, or let Gortash accompany them to the Elder Brain, leading to his eventual demise. On the other hand, Orin must be dealt with by defeating her. Following this, players can proceed to the Elder Brain from the Bhaal Temple.
BG3: Locating the Elder Brain
Starting from the Temple of Bhaal waypoint, head north to reach the Morphic Pool Dock, where a boat awaits. It's crucial to note that this point is non-returnable, so ensure all quests are completed, and desired allies are recruited.
Upon arriving at the destination, the party faces a linear location where they confront around a dozen Intellect Devourers. Progressing further, they finally encounter the Elder Brain. After an unsuccessful attempt to overcome it, the Emperor transports the protagonists to the Astral Prism. Here, players must decide whether to align with the Emperor or free Orpheus. Opting for the latter prompts a decision on who will transform into an Illithid, followed by heading to the portal in the High Hall.
Gathering all allies, the party proceeds to confront the Elder Brain, engaging in battles with enemies supporting the Absolute along the way. Advancing up the stairs leads to the Brain Stem, triggering cutscenes and culminating in a showdown with the formidable Elder Brain.
