The premature release of the latest character reveal in Tekken 8 has disappointed director Harada
An earlier video showcasing the yet-to-be-officially-announced character Bryan Fury was reportedly posted on an official Instagram account ahead of schedule, according to Bandai Namco.
It is expected that the "official" announcement will be made during the ongoing Combo Breaker fighting game tournament, which includes the Tekken segment and is being streamed on the official Bandai Namco Esports YouTube channel.
Although the trailer was quickly taken down, it remained online long enough for other YouTube channels to start sharing it.
In a now-deleted tweet, Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada seemingly placed the blame on Bandai Namco's European division for the accidental leak.
"What the xxxx Bandai Namco Euro," Harada tweeted. "That's why I warned you years ago not to use a timer for posting. Well, I'm going home now, thanks! Ha ha ha."
Tekken 8 producer Michael Murray also took to Twitter to apologize to fans for the leak.
"I apologize to the fans who saw that particular thing not the way[Harada]and I wanted it to happen," he wrote.
"I feel bad for all of you and also for the development team who gave up their weekends to work on it."
Tekken 8 was officially announced in September 2022 during a livestream event called PlayStation State of Play.
While a release date has not been confirmed yet, the game is planned for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
