Artist Captures Iconic Call of Duty Zombies Moments in Stunning Oil Paintings
An artist has created a series of impressive oil paintings based on memorable gameplay moments from the Call of Duty Zombies experience and shared their work online. The popular Zombies mode is set to make a return in the franchise's upcoming release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
A Tribute to Call of Duty Zombies
Call of Duty Zombies, a round-based survival mode, first debuted in 2008's Call of Duty: World at War, developed by Treyarch. Over the years, it has become a beloved feature of the franchise, known for its unique characters, maps, and storylines that reward teamwork and strategic gameplay. One artist, a Reddit user named Senior-Swordfish1361, has captured some of the mode's most iconic scenes on canvas.
Recently, Senior-Swordfish1361 shared their latest creation on Reddit—a painting centered around the Origins map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which prominently features giant robots. The artist, who also painted the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 version of Origins, has been busy throughout August, posting paintings based on other popular Zombies maps, including Die Rise, Five, Town, and TranZit.
Expanding the Collection
In addition to their Zombies-themed works, the artist has also painted a scene from Highrise, a fan-favorite map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Highrise is widely regarded as one of the best maps in the Call of Duty franchise, having appeared in multiple games, including Call of Duty: Online, Call of Duty: Mobile, and 2023's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Prints of Senior-Swordfish1361's Highrise and Zombies paintings are available for $32 each. The artist has also created paintings inspired by other games, such as Battlefield 1, Fallout: New Vegas, and Skate 3.
Upcoming Changes in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to introduce significant changes to the Zombies experience, including a new third-person mode and more customization options for the HUD. However, the game, scheduled for release on October 25, will also remove the Carpenter power-up, a staple since World at War. This item, which fully repairs window barriers and grants players a small number of points, will no longer be part of the Zombies experience.
As the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 approaches, these creative tributes from fans like Senior-Swordfish1361 highlight the lasting impact of the Zombies mode on the gaming community.
