New Horror Game from Little Nightmares Creators to Be Unveiled at Gamescom 2024
THQ Nordic and Tarsier Studios, the creators of the first two Little Nightmares games, have teased a new horror game set to be unveiled at Gamescom on August 20. THQ Nordic's recent 2024 Digital Showcase highlighted several upcoming titles, including a new Darksiders game, the Epic Mickey: Rebrushed remake, and gameplay footage from the highly anticipated Gothic remake. Among the most intriguing announcements was a new title from Tarsier Studios, the original developer of the Little Nightmares series.
The first Little Nightmares game was launched in 2017 by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, followed by a sequel in 2021. The success of these games encouraged Bandai Namco to establish the series as a key intellectual property, with a third game slated for release in 2025. However, Tarsier Studios will not be developing Little Nightmares 3, as they were acquired by the Embracer Group, leaving the franchise with Bandai Namco. Instead, Tarsier Studios is channeling their experience into a new horror project.
During the THQ Nordic 2024 Digital Showcase, this untitled game was introduced with a teaser trailer that provided minimal details, focusing primarily on atmosphere. The teaser conveyed a moody and ominous tone, using shadows and sparse lighting to set the scene. The setting appears to be a barn, where one of the game's antagonists is a massive pig with its intestines exposed. The pig ominously states, "they're coming," before the trailer announces that the game will receive a full reveal at Gamescom 2024 on August 20.

Horror game enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating Tarsier Studios' upcoming title, which evokes the same eerie and unsettling atmosphere as Little Nightmares. Fans of Little Nightmares 2 were particularly intrigued by the pig's appearance, as the official concept art book revealed that a similar pig was originally intended for the game's starting forest area but was later removed. Many fans speculate that this pig has been reimagined for the new title.
Meanwhile, Little Nightmares 3 is currently being developed by Supermassive Games, known for Until Dawn, The Quarry, and The Dark Pictures Anthology. Little Nightmares 3 recently experienced a significant delay, pushing its release to 2025. Once Tarsier Studios' new game is fully revealed, it will be interesting to compare it with the upcoming Little Nightmares 3.
